The game was revealed by PlayStation Senior Director Asad Qizilbash, who called it the most ambitious Hitman ever created. Agent 47 is clearly in training for his big comeback, and it’s just as clear that some of the less savory parts of the world he left behind are in dire need of his services.
Hitman will be receiving new content after it releases in a manner similar to episodic games. IO Interactive says new assassination contracts, locations, and gameplay mechanics will be made available over time. Some of these assassination contracts will only appear once, within a small time window–the example given was 48 hours. Players will only have one chance to attempt these assassination contracts. Square Enix says the game’s story-line will “conclude in 2016” in this fashion.
Developing And Gameplay
Square Enix spokesman said that “The studio (IO Interactive) will focus resolutely on the future vision for the Hitman franchise and is in pre-production on a new AAA Hitman project. However we have taken the difficult decision to cancel other studio projects and initiatives at IO and reduce the workforce in this studio, which will impact almost half of the employees currently at IO, as we make internal adjustments to face the challenges of today’s market.” Square Enix Montreal will now reportedly focus on developing smartphone and tablet versions of Hitman and other games. On 16 January 2014, an open letter was filed by IO Interactive for the fans, sharing some news details on the next game. It states the intention to make the next version less linear, with more open-ended maps. Hitman is a action-adventure stealth video game that is currently under development. Levels accommodate about 300 non-playable characters, with each having different routines and will react differently with players’ actions. The checkpoint system from Absolution has also been dropped. Players can save their game anytime during missions.
Contracts mode also return in Hitman. Players can create scenarios and assassination targets. These scenarios and targets can be shared with other players. Instinct mode, which was introduced in Absolution, also returns and will be simplified.
IO Interactive will be published Square Enix for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on 8 December 2015. It will be the sixth entry in the Hitman video game series.
