Apple has rolled out a new Nike-themed watch that aimed at runners, called the Apple Watch Nike+. In addition to looking like a Nike Watch — it is available in four sporty color combinations, all variations on black, gray, white and green — it comes loaded with the Nike’s own running app. As you might be aware, though Nike itself has dabbled in hardware, including FuelBand fitness tracker and a dedicated running watch, Nike’s real asset is its software — both the app and the community of runners that has grown up around it.
The watch has a special breathable watch band, and Nike watch faces that simplifies and stylizes the interface to focus on fitness and flashy motivational phrases. Nike also has a social network of sorts, called Nike+ Run Club, that the Watch will be happy to integrate with, and even some special Siri commands. To declare corporate commitment this watch embodies, there’s even a Nike swoosh carved in the aluminum back.
The Nike Sport Bands are exclusive to the Apple Watch Nike+ and are not sold separately. They come in 4 color options: Black / Volt, Black / Cool Gray, Flat Silver / White, and Flat Silver / Volt.
The Apple Watch Nike+ will be available in the 38 mm for $369 and 42 mm for $399from Apple.com, Nike.com, Apple Stores and select Nike retail stores. It will be available to pre-order on September 9 in 32 countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, India, Canada, France, China, Germany, Mexico and more. The Apple Watch Nike+ will release in late October.
