Richard Clarkson Studio and Crealev are the creators behind Floating Cloud, a levitating speaker designed with the sound-reactive LED lights. The cumulus-shaped puff autonomously hovers above a reflective oval base, which is embedded with the magnetic components that enable the cloud to float 1-2 inches from its surface. while base itself must remain plugged in, and a rechargeable lithium ion battery powers the cloud and allows a completely wireless and unobstructed levitation while in use.
Clarkson originally built the cloud as a lighting fixture. For the latest model, he worked with Crealev to design a way for the cloud to levitate.
‘Making weather’ blends crealev’s innovative levitation technology with the form and function of richard clarkson’s cloud product, creating an in-home device that’s both practical and playful. The inbuilt bluetooth speaker and sound reactive LED lights relay a realistic atmospheric experience akin to a storm, with the colored luminescence generating lightning-like flickers as music is played and rotating fully above the base and bobbing vertically. This floating cloud speaker is both a surreal and sensible addition to the home.
The cloud rotates and bobs above the base to create a realistic-looking cloud experience. Whilst also playing your favourite tunes via a built-in Bluetooth speaker and sound reactive LED lights. Like all clouds in our lives.
A remote control enables you to control the cloud from the comfort of your sofa.
Before you get too excited, this is currently just a prototype, but both the companies hope to make this available soon as a commercial product. Heads up, it won’t be cheap though. The last cloud creation was around £2,000.
